2025 Salmon Smolt Delivery Schedule

 

 

The 2025 Salmon Smolt have recently been vacinated and are looking robust and very healthy.  We are excited to announce that The Mokelumne Fish Hatchery Crew will begin delivering Chinook salmon smolt on Sunday morning May 25th and continue Saturday May 31st, and Saturday June 7th.

The salmon are kept in the pen 5 days, anchored in Pillar Point Harbor, and then released into the ocean; smolts are fed by an automated machine using feed supplied by the Department of Fish and Wild Life.

The net pen assembly is scheduled for Saturday May 24th, at Pillar point Harbor Launch Ramp Half Moon Bay CA.   The breakdown is scheduled for June 14th.   

The pen is usually disassembled and stored about a week after the last smolt delivery, June 7th. Volunteers are welcome to assist with this project, sign up with the Team on the Coastside Fishing Club website, see the events thread here.

The delivery of the smolt takes place at the end of Johnson Pier, Pillar Point Harbor usually around 9-9:30am and the public is invited to watch.
