2023 Salmon Smolt Delivery Schedule

The Department of Fish and Wildlife begin delivering Chinook salmon smolt on Saturday mornings, second week in May and 3 weeks thereafter. The salmon are kept in the pen 5 days and then released into the ocean; smots are fed by an automated machine using feed supplied by the Department of Fish and Wild Life.

The net pen assembly is scheduled for the first Saturday in May, at Pillar point Harbor Launch Ramp Half Moon Bay CA and will be disasembled and stored about a week after the last smolt delivery, June 8. Volunteers are welcome to assist with this project, sign up with the Team on the Coastside Fishing Club web site.

The delivery of the smolt is accomplished at the end of Johnson Pier, Pillar Point Harbor usually after 10:30 am and the public is invited to watch.
